The Meaningfulness of Christmas Cards

This is why people despise Christmas cards.

We have lived at our current address for 2.5 years. Meaning, this will be our 3rd Christmas in our house. It's bad enough that we still get junk mail for residents who have lived here for the past 20 years or so ... but so far this month we have gotten three Christmas cards to the couple who lived here before us. These are actual cards, mailed by individuals ..... who apparently are so out of touch with the former occupants that they're not even aware these people have moved 4 hours away. Over 2 years ago.

I don't know if it's the fault of the sender, for not paying attention. Or maybe the recipients never bothered to let them know? But surely, if you care about someone enough to feel the need to send them holiday greetings, shouldn't you know where they live?

Have you ever sent the xmas cards back with "return to sender?" If so, then the people are also pretty dense. :P

At least they sent cards - unlike me, who found a big stack of cards after christmas that I should have sent, and never got around to.

Meanwhile, your card was totally adorable!

And I'm sorry I missed out on the open house — I ended up being the chauffeur for my mom, sister, and cousin on an all-day post-Christmas shopping spree. On the plus side, I did snag my very own copy of the special-edition A Christmas Story Monopoly . . .

Cathy: I know the previous owners had their mail forwarded for about a year or so after they moved, and for a while we did "Return to Sender", but have finally given up.

Jonathan: I think everyone who would be getting a card from you understands. Your first Christmas with 3 children is bound to be a bit hectic!

Amy: Glad you liked our cards. I had fun designing them! Sorry you missed the Open House, but it was only a few hours of fun, whereas A Christmas Story monopoly will be fun for years and years. Can I be the leg lamp?;)
