The Horrors of Clothes Shopping

I really wish I could clothes shop with Eleanor. This is one thing that I've not managed to figure out how to do, with a toddler in tow, without driving myself crazy or running out of the store before the clerks notice the pile of white sweaters on the floor, etc.

Part of the problem is that I don't particularly like shopping. So when I get time to myself, that's not what I want to spend it doing. I'd much rather get it out of the way during the day, while hanging out with Eleanor, so I can spend my own time more enjoyably: reading, hanging out with friends, or even just sleeping.

I need some new work clothes, and I need a shirt to complete my Halloween costume. I've known what I wanted to be for weeks (Liz Lemon from 30 Rock—I just need a plaid shirt!), but have yet to actually purchase something. I keep putting it off.

Is is easier to try shopping with Eleanor, or to just think of a new costume that I could make from things around the house?

It's impossible for me to go clothes shopping with Natalie too. (and I love shopping)
I like the idea of Liz Lemon, Marc loves that show. Any chance you could go get a shirt tonight after Eleanor's in bed? Best wishes for a great costume and a low stress shopping experience.

We buy just about everything off the internet - including clothes - it's our only way of surviving... otherwise we have to take all three kids with us.

I don't know where you shop, but most department stores have "Personal Shopping Services". Services offered vary, but I've never heard of it costing anything (other than clothes). I don't see any downsides to this...

Here is a link to Macy's (not available in Cleveland, but you get the picture)

Laurie: I did find a shirt, with Eleanor in tow. I should have resisted trying; the shirt doesn't fit that great, and Eleanor was playing in the racks, fell over, and started crying at the top of her lungs (from fright--she was fine).

Jonathan: I do find myself buying a lot online, although I'm still nervous about clothes. I'm at the point in my life where I feel like I don't even know what size I am, so I have to try things on to have any idea if they'll fit or look good on me.

But if it's easier to actually buy online and send it back if it doesn't fit, maybe it's still worth it?

Jeremy: We have a Macy's right by our house. I'll check out the personal shopping service. Thanks for the tip!
