Pub Quiz

In honor of the Pub Quiz tonight, I thought I'd give you all a quiz on miscellaneous random facts. If you're looking for the answers, click on the comments. (To be fair, I knew very little of this myself—most of it came from answers.com.) Good luck!
  1. Where does the word "pub" come from?
  2. Who said, "You can take a whore to culture but you can't make her think?"
  3. In 965, King Edgar decreed that there should be no more than __ alehouses per village?
  4. When does the Guinness Co's lease on St. James' Gate Brewery end?
  5. In nine men's morris, a popular pub game, how many players are there?

I knew 1, 2, and I knew that 4 was some crazy xtreme number in the future but not the specific year itself. Interesting factoids, and I hope miked reads this and uses these questions.

Coincidentally, there is a bar on Lorain in West Park called the Public House. I was there for happy hour a few times and always mistakenly see Pubic House on the sign.

My pub quiz prowess is fueled by Guinness!

These sound like uppity places to me, if they're too good for the commonly used abbreviations and choose to spell things out instead.
